Great Sales/Recruiter = Great Sales/Recruiter Manager?
Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 07:49AM In ERE.Net's article by Dr. Wendell Williams, "Sales to Sales Manager?", he again takes on the question about things that make a good manager verses things that make a good producer.
I've had this discussion and read a ton of articles about how the skills required for each position are very different and at times, almost are opposite. A top producer are usually out for number one and will stop at nothing to maximize commissions and their own success. A manager, at times, must eat crow for others, focus on making others look good and in many times, take a pay cut!
Most of the time, I feel companies themselves carry the greatest burden to create an environment that will allow the best people to work themselves into the best jobs. They should take an honest and realistic look at compensation and expectations and really understand what each positions responsibilities should be. Then compensate them for it!
