I started this blog as an open forum for recruiters to exchange their ideas and  feelings to better our profession.  Please feel free to respond to any of my ranting or open up new topics for discussion.  At all times these thoughts must be presented in a professional manner that encourages participation and are a credit to our industry.

I also encourage candidates for employment to ask questions or state problems they have had with recruiters in the past.  Your input is vital to our success.  After all, you need to be just as happy about your new (or future) employment for your continued usage of our services.

I ask you to identify yourself but I will withhold identification posted if requested.

I reserve the right to not post or edit content to adhere to the above standards of conduct.

Another Sharp RPO Solution - The RightThing, Inc.

Although I haven't met with these folks, it still looks like their solution is pretty strong.

The RightThing CEO, Terry Terhark, founded Selective Staffing, Inc. (SSi) in 1990. That success and expertise was recognized and in 1998, SSi was acquired by Aon Consulting, to support the formation of a Recruitment Process Outsourcing Practice. During the next five years, the team built a very impressive product offering and experienced tremendous revenue growth.

Who are some of your major clients? Siemens, Pepsi, Merck, Dow Chemical, Kellogg Company, CVS, Unisys, AstraZeneca, Chubb Insurance, International Paper & US Steel are a few of major clients.

What are you seeing in the market that clients are most interested in and their greatest need? More and more of our clients are looking for an end-to-end solution for all or various parts of their staffing needs. The process of engaging an RPO provider is becoming much more formalized. The greatest need is around the blend of recruiting and process in a scalable delivery model.

Briefly describe your process and services? The RightThing is a pure-play end-to-end RPO provider. We provide all the services that embody RPO including:

  • Hiring Process Redesign
  • Recruiting/Sourcing
  • Applicant Intake and Prescreening
  • Requisition/Resume Management
  • Test /Assessment Administration
  • Telephone and Face to Face Interview Administration
  • Interview Scheduling
  • Offer Compilation/Candidate On-Boarding
  • Exit Interviews
  • Campus Recruiting
  • Employee Referral Administration
  • Applicant Tracking

What are your experiences in improvement in response/hiring over current client HR departments? We find that we provide a positive ROI regardless of the scenario. Along with recruiting, HR departments manage many other components of HR for their respective organizations which gives them limited time to spend on recruiting and staffing. We can alleviate most if not all of the burden by creating an efficient streamlined solution which provides a virtually instant return on investment. Specific client examples are outlined below.

  • Started 2006 with 94% on-board; ended 2006 at 101% (fully staffed). Never before since measuring this had they been staffed.
  • Reduced cycle time from 55 days to 42 for exempt jobs
  • Increased client staffing partner productivity by 30% within first 9 months.
  • Sourced over 295,000 candidates in 6 month period for a specific client

What metrics do you track? The RightThing is a metrics driven organization and typically provide a customized scorecard for our clients. We have literally provided hundreds of different reports over the years. We provide many standard reports including:

  • Cost per Hire
  • Candidate Quality
  • Source Effectiveness
  • Interview-to-Hire Ratios
  • Cycle Time to Fill
  • Hiring Manager and Candidate Satisfaction
