Are you a single dimensional recruiter?
Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 07:31AM What is a single dimensional recruiter? Great lead off question, isn't it. I get this complaint from sales and recruiter managers often. A single dimensional recruiter is one that only has one way to recruit. They only use the job boards, only the company database, only a limited network that they built from people they know and others. The key here, is once they use up the immediate source of candidates, they are comfortable with, they are dead in the water.
High production recruiters have extensive list of sources and methods to find candidates. They start at the top of the list (most productive) then work their way down. As they work down the list, they are also trying to expand their database and networks for future requirements, if they don't find the candidates they want for this search. They are asking for referrals from everyone they have contact with. They call references they have been given from old candidates. By the time their lists are exhausted 1-2 weeks have passed. Then they start over. Get the picture.
There really is no candidate you can't find. There are candidates you can't find within a certain time period or can be beat by a competitor that has a stronger list or network.
But, if your "list" is exhausted in 1 day or less. You're a single dimensional recruiter.
