Anonymous Blogging - What's the big deal?
Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 09:51AM I've heard Jim Durbin of Durbin Media Group speak before on issue and problem around bloggers that use false names or anonymously, but it didn't sink in as to why someone would.
From a recruiter's perspective, blogging is a great way to get out into your marketplace of candidates, make yourself easier to get contacted by candidates/clients and just one more way to get noticed. So in turn, I didn't see the point of not taking credit (or blame) for what you say on the net. Now I get it.
In today's St. Louis Post's Business section, there's a article on the CEO of Whole Foods Market Inc. According to the story, he anonymously posted comments on the web attacking people buying a competitor's stock. Now, just taken in context at this point, that's just a real competitive dude taking cheap shots at a rival. Not really a big deal. BUT, now the guy turns around and makes a play to BUY that competitor. Could it be that he was smart enough about the power of blogging to drive down the stock price to enable him to buy the company cheaper????? Huh, I'm just a key banging, phone pounding recruiter, but it makes me think.
The key here is to realize the new power of blogging on the web and how can you use it to better your, better your company and make more money. Any remember what Yoda said, "Beware of the Dark Side young Skywalker".
