More About This Website

I started this blog as an open forum for recruiters to exchange their ideas and  feelings to better our profession.  Please feel free to respond to any of my ranting or open up new topics for discussion.  At all times these thoughts must be presented in a professional manner that encourages participation and are a credit to our industry.

I also encourage candidates for employment to ask questions or state problems they have had with recruiters in the past.  Your input is vital to our success.  After all, you need to be just as happy about your new (or future) employment for your continued usage of our services.

I ask you to identify yourself but I will withhold identification posted if requested.

I reserve the right to not post or edit content to adhere to the above standards of conduct.

Recruiter Golden Rules

1) Recruiters own everything that a candidate says and does - It's up to you to prep, interview, coach, assist and control all actions during the hiring process.

2) Plan for the unplanned - Play "what if" constantly.  Don't assume everything will work out perfectly.  Assume everything will fall down around your ears and how will you save the day.

3) Over work, over recruit and be smart about it -  Always have a backup plan that you've set in place for more candidates, better tools or options to give your management.

4) Use all the tools possible - Great ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) are god sent.  But, they don't make a chicken into a duck.  Learn the tools and databases you have available and use them to their greatest extent.  You should be the expert in your office.

5)  Be creative - Think outside of the box when you get stuck.  Don't just sit back and cry that you have done all you can.  Go down fighting, not whining.
