I started this blog as an open forum for recruiters to exchange their ideas and  feelings to better our profession.  Please feel free to respond to any of my ranting or open up new topics for discussion.  At all times these thoughts must be presented in a professional manner that encourages participation and are a credit to our industry.

I also encourage candidates for employment to ask questions or state problems they have had with recruiters in the past.  Your input is vital to our success.  After all, you need to be just as happy about your new (or future) employment for your continued usage of our services.

I ask you to identify yourself but I will withhold identification posted if requested.

I reserve the right to not post or edit content to adhere to the above standards of conduct.

ALERT ! Something doesn't smell right here

In today's Post-Dispatch there's an article by Adam Sichko titled, "Durbin breaks new ground with live blog discussion".  At first I thought, "cool, more blogger's jumping in".  Then as I read the article, a rumbling started in my stomach, and not in a good way

It seems Sen Dick Durbin, D-Ill has decided he needs to get involved with the government taking a greater control over the internet.  Now, I have made a point to keep this blog just focused on the staffing and recruiting industry, but I've also learned how blogging can be used and abused.  Getting the politicians involved in anything beyond just a participant, in my mind is dangerous.  He is doing this, as he says, "..just seeking advice", but there are too many other comments which makes it sound like a power grab.  There a many rumors about coming legislation on AM talk radio and this seems like another bad step.

On the surface, it may sound great, "give more access...., get more people involved...etc".  But who gets to decide, "who", who is?  Dick Durbin?  There is one line that mentions the session was sponsored by Openleft.com, a left leaning blog.

What ever your political leanings, THIS SHOULD SCARE YOU!  I firmly believe the success of the current internet openness is because the markett and a person's own drive decide the direction.  No big business OR government control

There is another session tonight at 7pm.  Live Blog with Durbin Staff, Ben Scott, and Mark Rotenberg at 7pm (and AT&T)   Log on and make your opinions known.

For the record, he's no relation, but he is a kook.

Let's not forget he called our soldier's Nazis last year.

The problem with what the senior Senator is doing is he's ignoring the bipartisan blogging efforts to focus on a liberals-only website.

Of course, he also supports reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine, which I guess is a way of saying that what's fair is preaching to the choir.

Hey Mike - I thought I taught you never to mix politics and business on your blog? If you're not careful, you'll get some right wing wacko to come into your comments and make fun of a sitting senator.
