Recruiting Outside the Box
Monday, October 15, 2007 at 06:08PM So what's outside the box???? It's what ever you've been most successful at, you change. "How stupid it that, you say...I've got to quit reading this mellon-head!".
In the MSNBC article, Job perks galore for twentysomethings Eve Tahmincioglu discusses the challenges of recruiting Gen-Y'ers. What stands out to me is her focus on knowing what appeals to the age group you're trying to recruit. Do you ask those questions of your client? Not only must you know the skills required, but what about the age group they want? That may not be "PC" but the reality is, you must know who is the best fit. That may be age, it may be just the knowledge that that age group holds.
Read this article. Then look at the requirements your trying to fill and see if you've been missing your target market. See if you've been stuck in the old same box of thinking too much for your candidates.
