I started this blog as an open forum for recruiters to exchange their ideas and  feelings to better our profession.  Please feel free to respond to any of my ranting or open up new topics for discussion.  At all times these thoughts must be presented in a professional manner that encourages participation and are a credit to our industry.

I also encourage candidates for employment to ask questions or state problems they have had with recruiters in the past.  Your input is vital to our success.  After all, you need to be just as happy about your new (or future) employment for your continued usage of our services.

I ask you to identify yourself but I will withhold identification posted if requested.

I reserve the right to not post or edit content to adhere to the above standards of conduct.

Starbucks Placement

No, I don't mean I made a placement with the Starbucks Corporation.  This past Monday morning, I was at my local Starbucks enjoying my favorite, too fattening, coffee delight and couldn't help but to over hear a discussion next to me.

A recruiter bumped into guy, that he must of known previously, and after the niceties were exchanged, he went into a great, but short, job description for a CFO that he was looking for.  He wasn't intrusive, he wasn't too pushy, he just passed along the information and asked for any referrals the guy might know.

Now, understand this was a holiday morning, at about 7:30 am.  Both guys were in shorts, t-shirts and obviously not heading into the office.  Yet, that recruiter had his radar on looking for opportunities.

The first response some people might have to this situation was to bad mouth the recruiter for never going off the clock.  Some people might have a problem because the recruiter didn't pound on the guy to try and close him for a name, right then and there.

I believe what I saw was a guy that was passionate about what he was doing.  He was good at it.  And he enjoyed it.  Do you?
