I started this blog as an open forum for IT Staffing industry professionals to exchange their ideas and  feelings to better our profession.  Please feel free to respond to any of my ranting or open up new topics for discussion.  At all times these thoughts must be presented in a professional manner that encourages participation and are a credit to our industry.

Responsible for direct sales efforts for IT staffing and direct placement revenues and building technical recruiting process generating candidate pools based on defined technical footprints. Optimized usage and reporting value of automated information systems for national candidate and employee database. In addition, managed recruiting staff and budget of $400,000, provided day-to-day management and evaluation, and monitored performance and adherence to quality and professionalism. Other duties were operational management and assistance to technical field staff and addressing any specific training, performance, or salary issues. Also conducted technical interviews of candidates to judge technical skill levels and assignments, and provided confirmation of salary discussions, relocation packages, and any issues that might require future management issues.

 

BLACK & VEATCH SOLUTIONS GROUP 1998 – 2000

Led sales teams for large clients and government projects and accounted for approximately $4 million in total project revenue. Focused on web projects and electronic document management systems (Merck Pharmaceuticals, Kansas Department of Transportation, Missouri Division of Tourism, US Toys). Developed business, marketing, and strategy plans for ASP (Application Service Provider) in EDMS market segment. Developed solution set and located software partners. Negotiated SLAs with hosting and software vendors. Provided direction to technical staff on product development. Coordinated sales/marketing efforts with partner software companies: Documentum, Computer Associates, IBM, FileNet, and Lotus. Re-engineered process for recruiting of technical staff. Reduced technical recruiting process for estimated cost savings of $5,000 per hire. Reduced process from 4 weeks on average to 2 weeks.

Had profit and loss responsibility for $5 million operations in Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, and Omaha providing IS staffing services. Coordinated efforts with engineering consulting services. Regional responsibility for major client support (IBM and AlliedSignal) in Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Iowa. Branch Manager

 

Complete profit and loss responsibility for Kansas City and Bangalore, India offices. Merged branch operations after acquisition of Spenser and Spenser Systems. Managed sales, recruiting, administration, and technical staff of 30 to over 60 consultants. Attained preferred vendor lists for three major telecommunications divisions of Sprint. Increased net profits for first year by 33% over previous year. Lead the sales efforts to close two major Year 2000 projects with revenues of $4,000,000. Migrated office Novell network to Win-NT company-wide WAN. Led coordination efforts with St. Louis, Dallas, Houston, and Kansas City to share candidate databases. Initiated relations with other CIBER company, Spectrum Technology Group, to bid on projects totaling over $1,000,000.

 

SYKES ENTERPRISES INCORPORATED 1995 – 1996

Sales/Operation Manager

 

Managed Lotus Notes development group to provide client services, improve billing processes, and build better customer relationships. Developed customer relationships with corporations to provide technical services. Built large Maximizer database to track and monitor the sales process. Reorganized client and staff files to stream line processes. Managed 2-person recruiting staff and 18 technical staff.

 

ANALYSTS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION 1984 – 1995

Branch Manager

 

Complete profit and loss responsibility while actively involved in hiring and managing sales, recruiting, technical management, and administration. Opened four new offices while maintaining the St. Louis office (Atlanta, Kansas City, Tampa, and Cambridge, England). The Cambridge office was the company’s first permanent overseas office. Served on management council for 8 of 10 years for being 120% of quota or higher.
